A residential pocket with Winchester close by
Sparkford Close is a small, uncongested cul-de-sac near the University, with the hospital, historic centre and station all within the wider walking and cycling area.
Just west of central Winchester
The house sits near the end of the railway-side spur of Sparkford Close. The University is immediately nearby; the hospital, station and city centre are all close enough to form part of normal walking or cycling life.
A surfaced, continuously lit pedestrian/cycle route behind the property gives a useful shortcut towards central Winchester and passes open green space on the way.
City access without living on a busy through-road
Leafy residential surroundings
Sparkford Close has the feel of a small residential cul-de-sac, with mature greenery around the house and the established leafy streets around Sleepers Hill nearby.
Close to the places that matter
The University is very close, while Royal Hampshire County Hospital, the High Street, railway station and central Winchester are all within the same compact part of the city.
Walk and cycle naturally
The lit shortcut behind the house and nearby green space make walking or cycling into Winchester a realistic everyday option rather than an occasional one.
A different feel when you get home
You can use the city for work, study and evenings out, then return to a residential street rather than living above shops or beside a main road.
A city you can actually use
Food, drinks & culture
The High Street, Jewry Street, Broadway and Cathedral quarter bring together pubs, restaurants, cafés, Everyman cinema, Theatre Royal and events. The value is that the centre is close enough for an ordinary evening, not just a planned day out.
Sport & outdoors
Winchester Sport & Leisure Park, weekly parkrun, the Winchester 10K and local outdoor bootcamp sessions provide easy ways to stay active and meet people. The South Downs Way also starts in Winchester, with the Clarendon Way running towards Salisbury.
Connected beyond Winchester
Winchester station gives direct rail connections, Southampton Airport Parkway is a short train journey away, National Express serves the city and the M3 is close by for road travel.
Useful options without making parking the headline
The house has driveway space for two cars, shared between residents. In addition, up to two Zone U resident permits may be available to eligible tenants on a first-come, first-served basis.
The current council charges are £60 a year for the first permit and £83 a year for the second. A permit allows use of qualifying resident bays but does not guarantee a space.

Most bedrooms face the cul-de-sac, not the railway
Rooms 1, 2, 3 and 5 face west towards Sparkford Close and are on the opposite side of the house from the railway. They benefit from strong natural light and later-day sun.
Room 4 is the only rear-facing bedroom. Its double-glazed window looks into mature trees which screen the raised railway from view, giving it the greenest outlook in the house. Some train noise can be heard from Room 4, and the site states that openly.
What it actually feels like around the house
The photographs tell the location story better than another paragraph: mature trees at the entrance, a residential cul-de-sac, and the green pedestrian shortcut towards central Winchester.
